Blacks and whites shouldn’t get married. People of color should sit on the back of the bus and go to separate schools. The Chinese and the Irish should stick to their part of town. Women shouldn’t be allowed in the work force.

These were all once “valid religious beliefs” too. North Carolina, one day you will have to explain to your children why you believed you were better than others simply because of how you were born. And you will look just as ignorant and ugly as all the other bigots who came before you.
